question
Aloha Lisa,
I was looking at the same cottage as you evidently
rented. How is the cottage itself. It looks a little
cramped but there are so few pictures that I can't
tell. Any thoughts appreciated.

It's the property with an oceanfront house, a cottage
and three thermal pools. From the description of your
article, I believe you stayed in the two bedroom 1.5
bath cottage.

PS how did you husband like the fishing

answer
Ahh, boy that was 6 or 7 years ago that we stayed at that one. I remember the cottage was small, but not bad for two people. We spent most of our actual time on the porch which was nice and big. (we stayed at the house that was set back from the water a bit, I'm not sure if that is the one you are thinking of or not). The best thing I remember about the cottage was the three ponds right in the yard. One was full of beautiful reef fish, and another was warm and big enough to float in. I especially enjoyed that. As for the fishing, I can't remember if my husband caught anything or not, but he fishes in that area quite a bit and you can almost always catch something, even if it's only rock fish.

Thank you, that's the one. Question, is there a house
that you like better, considering the views, the
house, ponds and proximity to the ocean. I taking my
wife as a birthday surprise to Hawaii and I want to
please her.

I answered:
Hi again - well, one place we've always wanted to stay at but never have is this one http://www.apoparadise.com/lagoon.html . I've never even been inside it but walking past it on the street makes it just look like the best place to stay because it's in a really nice spot and is big and bright and open. Also, any house that is actually on the champagne pond (the name of a protected part of the bay) will usually allow swimming and snorkeling when other areas wouldn't because of rough waters. The house we've been talking about has ocean access, but if there are any decent waves it may be too rough to get in there. Just something to consider. If you are into ocean swimming and snorkeling, I would look for a house around the champagne pond first.
