I spoke with Anitra Pickett, CEO of GLAD (GLobal ADventure) Travel and got some revealing answers about Hawaii Travel and the GLAD website.

What is your favorite Hawaii spot or activity and why?
Wow, that’s hard to say since there are so many awesome spots and activities in Hawaii! I would say one of my most special memories is building a bonfire with my soon-to-be-husband and camping out on a secluded beach (I won’t name the name of it in the interest of keeping it secret) on the west coast of Oahu with no one else in sight besides local fisherman. Then looking out of my tent in the morning sun to see a school of dolphins jumping right in front of me. Those types of experiences, which can be had in many places on many Hawaiian Islands, are what I truly treasure about Hawaii. Beauty, nature, and solitude shared with those you care about.

What is your favorite Hawaii hotel and why?
Personally, I don’t like staying in hotels in Hawaii. The warmth, weather, and beauty that the Hawaiian outdoors offers always pulls me towards wanting to staying outdoors or staying in a small vacation rental that offers more access to the outdoors than a hotel. There are many small, unique vacation rentals that offer tree houses or cabins or half indoor/half outdoor type of accommodations that allow one to experience the outdoors while still offering enough luxury to suit various needs.

What is your best piece of Hawaii Vacation advice - something that everyone heading to Hawaii should know.
You can travel to Hawaii on a budget!!!! It’s really not that hard and being on a budget will likely end up exposing you to a lot more of the special, unique, authentic Hawaiian places!
