Searching for Waikiki and Honolulu Vacation Packages on the Internet can be confusing because Waikiki is actually in Honolulu. Waikiki is the part of Honolulu around Waikiki Beach and bordered by the Ala Wai Canal. Plenty of sites say Honolulu when they mean Waikiki. In fact, the only hotels I know of that are in or near downtown Honolulu (instead of in or near Waikiki) are the Honolulu Airport Hotel and the ResortQuest at the Executive Centre. Go here for Waikiki Vacation Packages.

I did some vacation package (air and hotel) searches for the Honolulu Airport Hotel and got an average of $139 a night on Expedia. I also found an average of $159.57 a night at travel-hawaii.com. Not worth it at either price. Definitely pick a different hotel.

I searched for vacation packages on the ResortQuest at the Executive Centre and found Expedia offered rates of $183 a night. This is probably an average price for this hotel. Travel-Hawaii had a rate for a mountain-view room of $224 (too high). Great Hawaii Vacations had an average rate of $180. I would look elsewhere than Honolulu (like in waikiki) for any significant discounts.

    ResortQuest at the Executive Centre
The Resortquest at the Executive Centre is on the top floors of a high-rise, business building in Honolulu. It is especially good for people staying overnight waiting for a cruise ship to leave because it's walking-distance close to where the cruise ships dock. It is an all-suite hotel with kitchenettes and small dining areas. It has views of the harbor and the city. It is much quieter than most hotels in Waikiki. Waikiki is a 15 minute bus ride away. There are no beaches within close walking distance. This hotel also seems to be popular with business travelers, staying for a night, a week, or a month.

    Honolulu Airport Hotel
The Honolulu Airport Hotel is an old hotel with peeling wallpaper, ugly bedspreads, worn carpet, and air conditioners from the 1950s. Stay here if you have to be close to the airport, otherwise there are much better hotels for cheaper prices directly in Waikiki.
